NLC Display - 21 June 2021 - Solstice delight.

Hints of a bright and intense display could be seen as early as 23:10. What appeared to be just very high cirrus in the bright twilight sky tricky to be sure it it was a developing region of NLC but at quick phone call from a friend made us realise we were seeing the exact same structure in the sky and at 70 miles apart it is impossible to be seeing the same clouds so NLC confirmation it was.

I got into the car, with gear already kept in there from the start of the season for an emergency get away and had a short drive to my favorite NLC viewing site.

I arrived almost bang on 23:30 and had my first photo taken at 23:33. The event was so fast changing, really dramatic and dynamic changes in the display. The most intense was from 23:40 until 00:15 and I stayed out watching until 00:35 and went home.

When I got home it could be barely seen from my horizon view so I was very pleased I took a drive up the mountain.
